Humpty DumptyIt is March and spring is in the air! The kids have had fun finding rhymes in Dr. Seuss stories and dressing up for Wacky Week. We continue to learn about rhymes starting with some classic nursery rhymes like “Hey, Diddle, Diddle” and “Humpty Dumpty”. This week we review letters L through O and learn number 14.

We will be having Easter parties on March 27 (Tuesday) and March 28 (Wednesday) for the 3 year olds class and the 4 year olds class. For our larger 3 year old class we will have a sign up sheet for parents to bring items for the party. The families providing snacks this week are Woodard on Wednesday, March 7 and Carrabbia on Thursday, March 8. Thanks in advance for your help!

Scholastic Books orders are due on the 23rd for this month. Thank you to the parents who have ordered books. The preschool was able to order a few free books with the points earned for our classroom last month!

Please note that the preschool will be closed on March 29 and 30 (Thursday and Friday). The day care will be open on that Thursday but closed on Good Friday. Enjoy a long weekend leading up to Easter Sunday! We will resume our schedule on Monday, April 2.

cat in the hat readingIt is Dr. Seuss week at preschool! We will be reading many of his famous stories like The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham, and as we read his books we will learn about rhyming words. A new theme about nursery rhymes and a new animal theme about farm animals also begin this week as we approach the month of March. “O” is the letter of the week and we are counting up to thirteen. We are learning that red and blue blend together to make purple. In Bible time, we will read about how Jesus cleansed the temple and raised Lazarus from the dead.

Don’t forget to dress your kids for “Wacky Week”: Monday-PJ day, Tuesday-wear red day, Wednesday-Wacky Wednesday (clothes inside out, backwards, mismatched), Thursday-superhero day, Friday-crazy hat day. I can’t wait to see what the kids will come dressed in!

The family providing snacks this week is Ambriz on Thursday, March 1. Thanks in advance for your help!

ocean lifeWe had a good time at our Valentine’s Day party. Thanks for sending in those special notes or candy for everyone! The kids loved it! Just a reminder: let us know if you are interested in signing up for 4 year old preschool next year. Contact our director, Mary, with any questions.

This week we will be talking about space rockets and astronauts. We will also play games and have fun talking about ocean animals. Our letter focus is N, and we will be painting with red and yellow to make orange. The stories about Jesus continue as we read about how he healed the lepers and had time for tax collectors like Zacchaeus.

Our scholastic book orders are due at the end of this week for the month of February. Starting February 26, the preschool and day care are having a “wacky week”. The run down for this fun week is: Monday-pj day, Tuesday-wear red day, Wednesday-Wacky Wednesday (clothes inside out, backwards, mismatched), Thursday-superhero day, Friday-crazy hat day. I can’t wait to see what the kids will come dressed in!

We could still use your help for donating items needed in our classroom. Have a look at our apple tree on the preschool classroom door or you can email me if you have questions about what is still needed. The family providing snacks this week is Quigley on Thursday, February 22. Thanks in advance for your help!

Winter-Olympics

Registration for preschool for the 2018-2019 school year is now open to the public. Please begin the registration process with us as soon as possible. Due to our classroom size, space is limited to only 11 students per class. Contact Mary if your 3 year old is ready for our Monday, Wednesday, Friday class!

We will have some fun activities and heart crafts around Valentine’s day. We are also going to do some “athlete training” and read some books about the Winter Olympics which open on February 9th. This week we are talking about the letter M and reviewing numbers 9-12. In Bible time, we will read about how Jesus loved the little children and allowed them to come to him, and about how he calmed the storm when his disciples were afraid.

We are taking donations of supplies once again that are needed for our classroom. If you would like to contribute, please take a donation apple from the tree on the classroom door. Thanks in advance for your help!

Just a reminder: our Valentine’s Day party is Tuesday, February 13th, for the 3 year old class, and Wednesday, February 14th, for the 4 year old class. The teachers will provide some treats for the parties. Feel free to send in valentines for your student’s classmates on that day – there are 11 children in the Tuesday/Thursday class. No snacks are required this week due to our parties.

heartsThe children really enjoy watching the new classroom pet hamster, Chocolate! Each week we will have one student help with the pet by offering treats and making sure he has food and water. Come check him out sometime!

It was great getting to talk with many of you during our conferences this past week. A mid-year progress report was sent home if you were unable to attend a meeting. Another evaluation will be made at the end of the year to see how the children have developed and improved. If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call me.

With Valentine’s Day and the Winter Olympics coming up very soon, our class will be reading stories and doing activities related to these events. We are focusing on the letter L and number 12 this week, and we will be blending red and white to make pink. The students will also be practicing matching and sorting objects. We will be reading about the miracles Jesus performed like feeding the 5,000 to show how he is truly God.

The families providing a snack this week are Woodard (Wednesday, 2/7) and Newman (Thursday, 2/8). Thank you for your help!

solar systemAfter having heard from you, we are going ahead with a classroom pet! We will be getting a hamster which the children will be able to observe and help take care of. Parent/Teacher conferences will be held this Monday and Tuesday. I’m looking forward to talking with some of you.

Our next theme is Space. The children will be learning about planets, the stars, and the moon. Our animal theme for February is ocean life, the other realm where people are exploring and making new discoveries all the time. This Friday is Groundhog Day, so we will also read some stories about our little furry friend who predicts the weather. We are focusing on the letter K and number 11 this week, and we will be blending blue and yellow to make green. Our study of Jesus’ life continues as we read about his temptation and how he called his disciples.

Just a reminder: our Valentine’s Day party is Tuesday, February 13th, for the 3 year old class, and Wednesday, February 14th, for the 4 year old class. The teachers will provide some treats those days. Feel free to send in valentines for your student’s classmates on that day. The family providing a snack this week is Morse (Thursday, 2/1). We will be talking about transportation by air and by sea this week. The kids are doing a great job recognizing their colors and shapes. We will be reviewing numbers 1-10 and the first 10 letters of the alphabet. We start reading from the New Testament in Bible time, reading about Jesus’ early days and his baptism.

Parent/Teacher conferences are still available for January 29 (Monday) and 30 (Tuesday) from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm at 15 minute intervals. We can also schedule a phone meeting if you are unable to attend at those times. Just email or call me to set up a time and date.
